  • How to Buy a Domain Name

    By Jackie | August 6, 2008

If you are setting up your own niche sites or blogs you are going to need to know how to buy a domain name.

Choosing your domain name is an important piece of your on page search engine optimization. You want to find a domain name that includes your keywords, but doesn’t look spammy.  Today I came across a site I had never heard of that will help you find different configurations of domain names for your keywords. It’s pretty cool.

It’s called NameBoy. It is basically a domain name generator. You put your keywords in a couple boxes and hit go, and it will come up with a huge list of possibilities for domain names. Not only that, it will tell you which are actually available to buy!  You will be able to see if the .com, .org, .net and .info are available for that particular domain name.

It not only does searches for the keywords you entered, but will also find similar words to use as well. Now of course you always want to try to get your particular keywords in your domain name.

Here’s a great video that will show you how to work with NameBoy.

Once you finish at NameBoy you need to know how to buy a domain name.  I suggest you go to GoDaddy.com. That’s where I buy all my domain names from. You can get domains for $10.16 with tax and all.

GoDaddy is very easy and will walk you through the steps of buying your domain name. You basically enter the desired name in the search box and then click buy.

You will have the options to pay with credit cards or paypal.

You can also take a look at the thirty day challenger where you will be able to get your own free domain name for the challenge.

That’s it, pretty simple. It’s an important step in the process, and knowing how to buy a domain name moves you one step closer to building your online empire!

Blogging to the Bank ~ Building a Profitable Blog Network

    By Jackie | August 5, 2008

Ok ~ I bet the first thing you are going to say is “but I thought you are on an information diet!!” and ~ you would be right.

I guess that goes to show what a great sales page Rob Benwell has put together for Blogging to the Bank 2.  It persuaded me, and I finally bought it. I have heard people rave about the first edition and was sure this one would have tons of great info that would take my blogging the next level.

I’m happy to report that it most certainly does!!

Blogging to the Bank 2 is not your run of the mill beginner blogging book ~ although it does cover the how tos of getting a blog up and running.  But after that Rob takes you on a journey of techniques that aren’t being used by anyone else I know, but they are still easy enough for a new blogger to use.

Rob goes over exactly how to fill your blog with quality content, in fact, he provides 4 different ways to go about finding great content for your blog.

He also provides a step by step blueprint of exactly how to put together a long term blog that will be profitable.  This is NOT throwing up feeder sites or automating blog posting through scraping RSS feeds. This is a real ~ honest to goodness blueprint.  I was a little surprised that I learned a few new things myself when reading this blueprint, and I’m sure they are things that will help me make even more money in the future.

Now don’t worry, this isn’t all about making money from the “make money online” niche. This information will work for any and every possible niche you can think of, in fact, it will probably work BETTER in a niche other than make money online.

Where most blogging books I have read stop at how to get content and put it up on your blog, this book is just getting started. Rob provides 4 amazing traffic generation techniques that I had never even thought of! Any of which will start driving traffic very quickly to my blogs ~ and yours!!

I love blogging, I enjoy doing other things as well, but I enjoy having a long term, ongoing project. If you enjoy blogging and want to build a nice long term blog ~ with a long term income ~ and want to decrease the learning curve Blogging the Bank 2 is a great book for you.

If you decide to buy Blogging to the Bank 2, and you choose to do it through this site ~ I will add in a couple extras for you.

If you send me the receipt form your purchase I will send you 3 ebooks on affiliate marketing.

    Successful Affiliate Marketing Strategies
    Super Affiliate Secrets
    Affiliate Marketer’s Handbook

These ebooks combined with the information in Blogging to the Bank 2 will help rocket your income!

Once you’ve read the book, come back and let me know what you thought!

Free Blog Templates ~ Make Your Site Your Own

    By Jackie | August 5, 2008

As you know I have been building these keyword sniper sites.  My favorite part of the process is finding free blog templates.  Choosing a blog template or theme that fits your site content is an important part of the process.

For me, content is number one, but the feel of my sites is definitely a close second.  The feeling of your sites makes people feel welcome, and want to look around a little more. So I try to make the theme of my site match the feeling of the content.  I would never just use the Keyword sniper theme for a baby related site ~ it just doesn’t match.  However, I have no problem using the keyword sniper theme for a site that’s not so “soft”, like tools or marketing info etc.

You can find free blog templates, especially for wordpress.org all over the place. Tons of sites will come up if you just google free blog theme.  You can use any theme you want, but if you want to increase your search engine optimization and your chances of being found my the search engines I suggest you use a free blog template from CourtneyTuttle.com.

Court has gone through each of these themes and cleaned up the code and made sure everything is completely optimized for the search engines. He has over 60 templates available, so you can almost always find something that will fit with your site.

If you want to have an original theme for your site you can always find one that has a graphical header and change out the header image. This will make the theme original to your site.

One of my favorite of Court’s free blog templates I do this with is the I love Music theme.

Here’s how the original I love music theme looks:

    free blog template

It’s a nice looking template ~ but look what I turned it into.

It’s totally different and completely unique to this site.

I know a lot of people want a custom theme, but using a nicely SEOed template with a customized graphical header can do just as well.  This is a great way to save some money as you are getting started, and will still give you a nice original looking free blog template.
